Lipogems
Lipogems is a regenerative medical procedure that uses your own body fat to promote healing & reduce pain in injured or degenerated tissues, such as joints & tendons.
Here’s how it works:
-
First, a small amount of fat tissue is harvested from an area of your body where you have a bit of excess fat, such as your abdomen or thighs.
This is done using a minimally invasive procedure under local anesthesia.
-
The harvested fat tissue undergoes a special processing technique where it is cleansed & refined to concentrate the beneficial components known as adipose-derived regenerative cells (ADRCs). These cells have properties that support tissue repair & regeneration.
-
Once processed, the concentrated fat tissue (now known as the Lipogems tissue) is injected directly into the area needing treatment, such as a joint affected by osteoarthritis or a tendon injury.
-
The ADRCs within the Lipogems tissue release growth factors & other substances that promote healing. They help to reduce inflammation, stimulate the growth of new blood vessels, & support the repair of damaged tissues.
This can lead to improved joint function, reduced pain, & enhanced mobility over time.
